Urban planning

Although only a minimal portion of the village (a surface area of 600 m2, which likely constitutes one fifth or one sixth of the entire settlement) and a walled perimeter of 40 linear metres have been excavated, the urban structure of the settlement would be determined by the oval floor plan delimited by the wall, organised internally around a central street running southwest-northeast, flanked on both sides by rectangular dwellings attached at the rear to the internal face of the defensive wall. The street widens at its southern end to form a small square, making space for two small spurs running northwest-southeast.

The street was constructed in two different stages or at two points in time during the Iron Age, as indeed was the village in general. There is a lower and, therefore, older surface consisting of medium-sized pebbles and then, on top of that, a layer of attractive cobbled paving which probably lasted until the end of the Late Iron Age. The gate or entrance to the populated enclosure has not been located on the wall yet, so we do not know at all how large it was or what it was like. Parallels with other villages of this kind suggest that it was located at what was, topographically, the most difficult place to access on the perimeter; in this case, the bank of the Arga.
